This Chevelle is a absolutely
stunning frame-off restoration! Her restoration was completed in '97 and has
been kept in secure storage or on private display ever sense, except when she
was taken out on rare occasion for exercise - just 608 miles are on the
completely rebuilt factory-spec powertrain.
Over $80,000 in receipts
document the carefully done restoration. The Champaign Gold paint is museum
quality and far better than factory new. The body is straight and smooth metal.
The undercarriage is so clean you could eat off it. Both the firewall and
undercarriage are painted the same gold as the top, not black as it came from
the factory.
The interior is just as nice as
the exterior. The black bucket seats are deterioration free. The gauges and
glass are haze free. The factory AM/FM stereo works. The carpet and floor mats
are all in excellent condition. Even the visors have the factory pamphlets!
The powerful NOM Turbo Jet 375
horsepower 396 V-8 (L78) engine starts easily, rumbles through the dual exhaust,
and breathes from the functioning Cowl Induction hood. The NOT Muncie 4-speed
Close-Ratio (M22 "Rock Crusher") Manual Transmission was also rebuilt during the restoration.
It has the 3.55:1 (CKF) Positraction Rear Axle. It is equipped with the Special
Performance (F41) Front and Rear Suspension Package, Power Brakes (Front Disc,
Rear Drum), and Variable Ratio Power Steering (N40).
The engine code reads:
T0915CK0. This decodes as a 1970 L-78 396 CID V-8 375HP with a
manual transmission (CK0) built in Tonawanda, NY (T) on September
15, 1969 (0915).
The transmission code
reads: P0M18C3925660. This decodes as a 1970 (0) Muncie 4-Speed (P)
M-22 "Rock Crusher" (C) close-ratio transmission built on August 18,
1969 (M18).
This Chevelle has a date-correct
('70 model year) powertrain. It is not a documented matching
numbers vehicle, but it is a nationally judged show-quality award winning
restoration! |
