1997 Ferrari 456 GTA
"Automatically exciting!" That’s how Motor Trend referred to this, Ferrari’s
first GT with a 4-speed auto-shifter. Purists were up in arms but change happens
and the bulk of today’s Ferraris are automatics, like this trend setter.
We’re not Ferrari experts so we looked to a regional import shop for their
expert inspection and recommendations before accepting her. The very positive
report is on file and available for review. Dale, the import shop’s owner, is
available for the serious buyer. You will be impressed with Dale – he’s got a
serious pedigree – and our Ferrari – an extremely well cared for car that needs
nothing.
Our GTA has just under 12,000 original documented miles and listed for $229,950
new. For a complete CarFax® Vehicle History Report™,

report shows no accidents and careful attention to service. Paper records
indicate major service has been done by Ferrari dealerships' factory-trained
service departments. We have the owner’s and service manuals, service history
and records.
Her 12 cylinder 5.5 Liter (334 CID) dual-overhead cam and produces 436 brake
horse power at 6250 RPM. Lake
Forest Motorsports – a Ferrari dealer – performed her last major service at
10,240 miles. Our inspection shows perfectly tuned engine with properly adjusted
timing belts in like-new condition; excellent compression between 190 & 195 PSI
in all cylinders on both banks; perfectly operating Bosch Mototronic 5.2 fuel
injection and none of the fluid drips that frequent these sports cars. The
4-speed auto-shift works perfectly, is wonderfully responsive all the way
through the power curve. According to Ferrari, all that powers this 4-seat 3726
pound GTA to a top speed of 186 MPH. Unfortunately, we have not had the
opportunity to prove the top speed ourselves.
Our GTA’s factory tubular frame is in excellent condition and looks fresh.
There is no corrosion and all the bushings are supple. The car’s variable power
rack and pinion steering works effortlessly and predictably. The ABS 4-wheel
power disc brakes have minimal wear. Everything rides on fresh Z rated Michelin
Sport Pilots: 255/45 ZR 17 (front) and 285/40 ZR 17 (rear). Those are mounted
on undamaged, true and round factory wheels.
The aluminum body – with a steel roof and doors – is in excellent original
condition with care taken to touch up very minor chips. The dark metallic blue
exterior is one of Ferrari’s most elegant and popular colors – one that receives
approving nods while being less noticed by police looking for flashy speeding
targets. Fitment, seals, glass and surrounds are all as new.
The dark blue leather interior smells and looks new, with no wear or fade
showing at all. The argent surface and switch accents, instruments, lenses,
glass, and carpet show as new. All accessories, remote mirrors, A/C, Ferrari CD
stereo, power seats, and remote locking security system
works like new. The power windows work but the passenger front window
auto-down control needs repair, which will be done prior to delivery.
With the exception of the passenger window control, even the most discriminating
buyer will be delighted with our 456 GTA. We’ve got an outstanding Ferrari
waiting for a new home. Will she be yours?
