A good friend
and long-long time Chevy dealer came by the other day. He almost ignored us as
he walked into our shop to gaze on this Chevelle, which was being prepped.
“Original” he asked? “Yup” we responded. “Do you have any idea how few of this
color combination were built? “No,” we responded. “Very, very few; this is
gorgeous, just gorgeous'” he exclaimed, “look at that vinyl top, that's fine.”
What more is
there to say? Well, it gets better. This is a painstakingly restored matching
numbers SS complete with its original build sheet!
Now, add A/C to
this 396/350 console automatic…all as originally factory equipped. Plus 69,372
actual miles and less than 600 miles since its restoration...WOW!
Our Chevelle SS
was the 38th car built on May 7th, 1970 at Chevy's Lakewood Plant in Atlanta,
Georgia and delivered to Haley Chevrolet in Chattanooga, TN.
With less than
600 miles since a complete show quality professional frame off restoration, this
muscle car needs nothing. Every inch is fresh. The engine, transmission and
drive train are perfect and still in “break-in mode”.
The body is
laser straight and smooth as silk. Extensive infra red surface measurements
indicate an all steel, bondo-free body with paint that is 9 - 18mils deep with
no sudden spikes or lows that indicate anything other than the most professional
paint work. Note the properly placed chalk marks in the trunk and engine bay.
The vinyl is phenomenal, as is the rest of the car!
The interior is
perfect, with all equipment, instruments and accessories working as new. The
vinyl seats, dash and console surfaces are outstanding. The headliner is
perfectly stretched. The accessories show as new. The instrument cluster was
upgraded in the restoration to include the full gauge pack, which is reflected
on the reproduction window sticker.
This is one of
the most exciting and best show contenders we've had. Come; get upfront and
personal with our classic. Look her over inch by inch with our equipment or your
microscope. This is the '70 SS to judge others by!
