1997 Acura NSX-T

We see these on the track all the time, and they are outstanding performers, but we seldom see one on the road. Either way, here's your opportunity to own a first class 1997 Monte Carlo Blue Acura NSX-T.

The Acura NSX debuted in 1989 and went on sale across the US market in August of 1990 - three years after the launch of Honda's luxury brand. The Targa version was introduced in 1994.

Rave reviews, a mass of awards and declarations of being among the top10 performance cars (Motor Trend) preceded the sports car's first availability. Buyers agreed. Honda's goal to surpass Ferrari's famed performance, while providing Honda's uncompromised reliability was achieved.

Perfection, perfected; 1997 remains this car's the banner year. Honda's all-aluminum V6 engine featuring the legendary VTEC variable valve timing and the lift electronic control system grew to 3.2 Liters and boasted 290 HP and the transmission grew to six speeds. This configuration set the standard for all subsequent models.

The last 1st generation NSX sold in mid-2006. The next generation, a V-10, had been promised by 2010. A V-6 concept NSX appeared this year but a production model is still forthcoming.

So, what about our NSX-T?

She currently has 54,100 original miles and a clean three-owner record. The car was originally sold in Redmond, WA and has spent its life there, in Chandler, AZ and in the caring hands and controlled environment of the current owner who is a car dealer, nationally ranked race driver, sometime collector and father-to-be (the sole reason this car is for sale). No, this car has not been raced but the owner has had his team mechanics maintain this NSX.

Besides all NSX-T factory features, critical options have been added to make this NSX a top performer. First, a Comptech 6lbs.Supercharger has been installed by Bash Automotive. Comptech is the package of choice among NSX lovers because it provides OEM reliability, brilliant design that results in easy serviceability while providing 10-15% more horsepower directly from the improved supercharger plus additional modifications that create a combined total of 60-70 additional horsepower to the wheels; from 2,000 RPM on up. This unit is even street legal in California; it's that clean-running! This Comptech units is designed with a strut bar and engine cover that accommodates proper storage of the targa top. Oh, and there's also a Comptech high flow carbon fiber airbox.

Other NSX-T's performance features include:

  • A Dali racing coolant overflow tank.

  • A Walbro high flow fuel pump.

  • Science of Speed headers.

  • Science of Speed HID headlights.

  • Bilstein struts (lowering the car 7/8 of an inch).

  • Custom boost and fuel pressure gauges installed in the ashtray area - smokers need their hands at the controls anyway.

  • Timing belt replacement

  • Factory specified lubrication using Mobil 1

  • JDM fog lights.

  • The ZR rated Michelin Pilot Sports (275 30/ ZR 19 rear with 225 35 /ZR 18 front) mounted on color-matched, unrelenting Avus wheels not only ad looks but provide spectacular handling. The factory wheel/tire set is included in the sale.

    If that doesn't take you breathe away, consider the added soft-features like the leather shift boot and the powerful MPS Alpine CD changer. The amp is mounted behind the driver's seat and can be relocated for additional leg room. Then note details like the clear, front Euro/Asian lenses.

    To be clear, the is an outstanding car and a top performer. It is not perfect, but nothing about our NSX-T falls below an “A-“ - NOTHING! The undercarriage shows road miles but there is no sign the car has ever been driven in anything but the best of conditions. There is no visible wear the exterior trim, the glass or anywhere in the interior. Light dust is the only flaw you can find in the detailed engine bay or under the forward compartment. The spare has never been on the ground. All the tools are in place. Manuals are included.
