1971 Plymouth GTX
So, how rare is
rare? This Plymouth GTX is 1 of 7 recorded 7 “I” code GTX's out of 2,942 units
built in 1971. The “I” Code was Plymouth's designation for International orders;
a vehicle ordered specifically by US overseas combatants for domestic delivery
upon return home from service.
Plus, our GTX is one of only 327 built with both a
440/375 and a 4-speed. Next, it's a fresh, awesomely correct world-class
restoration. All that makes this GTX quite the treasure for the serious
collector!
The GTX was restyled for 1971 to give the model a more
flowing, yet more dominant appearance. The design changes allowed for a more
comfortable interior that better positioned the driver. A wider rear stance also
improved handling and optimized the model's power plants, equipped with a
factory-spec 440 4 barrel producing 375HP!
Every inch of our premium quality GTX has been
meticulously and correctly restored to factory + specifications. Complete
frame-off, drive train-apart restoration was completed in early 2003. At that
time the original (B11) 10” heavy duty drum brakes were upgraded to power with
front discs.
On top of this car's world class restoration we've
thoroughly gone through her and invested considerable dollars and man hours
perfecting perfection. As a result the body is laser straight solid metal with
as new glass, chrome, stainless, accents, seals, gaskets and more. The paint is
virtually flawless. The interior is factory new except for a blemish on the wood
grain panel. All gauges and accessories function as new - including the R35 Code
10 watt AM/FM radio. You can eat off the engine and underside and you can get
lost in the fully detail cavernous trunk.
