1965 Ford Mustang GT Fastback
2+2
This 2+2 fastback was built in New
Jersey (Code T) on February 24, 1965 (Code 24B) and delivered to a dealer in
Charlotte, NC (DSO Code 22). We found her 210 miles away in the Atlanta
suburbs. We scooped her up and brought her home after a thorough
field-inspection.
Upon arrival here our mechanics went
over this Stang again, fixing the minor items we found and ensuring you get a
fantastic car that you can drive and enjoy, not spend the car season repairing.
This southern car has a very solid,
original and well detailed undercarriage with excellent torque boxes, fresh
factory spec suspension components, and oversized Lemans Champion 205/75R15
radials on styled steel wheels – all in very good condition. The manual steering
is precise from lock to lock.
The car’s correct C code
289 V8 engine checks out very well and has been upgraded with a 4-barrel
carburetor. It starts and runs perfectly as the
videos indicate. The floor mounted 3-speed automatic transmission replaced the
car’s original 3-speed manual gear box. It too, is in excellent condition and
mates to the car’s 2.80:1 standard rear end (Code 6). All function together as
new; being responsive, tight, well aligned and balanced, just like a fresh Stang
is supposed to work.
The body is metal, with no rust or
damage. The is minor skimming but the car holds a magnet everywhere. GT grille
lights and through-valance dual trumpet horns have been added to enhance our
Stangs’ great appearance. Rangoon Red (Code J) is her original and current
color. The base coat/clear coat paint is well done and shows like new. The body
is very straight, but not quite laser-like - much like these cars arrived new
from the factory. All the trim, seals and panel alignment are very
good-to-excellent. The glass and chrome show as nearly new with no major or
obvious imperfections.
The 2+2 interior is in excellent
condition, with like new white bucket Pony seats and red accents. Everything is
in excellent condition. All the standard instruments, accessories, windows and
locks work and show as new. The chrome and stainless surrounds and sill plates
are all in very good condition and compliment the white and red interior
features. Note the wood sport steering wheel.
Literally others were on their way to
buy this car. We got there first. We’ve taken a very good car and made her much
better. We then took the time and invested the money to take her up several
notches; making her surprise and issue free, and an even better find.
